Regular Classes and Meetings

Aughton Village Hall hosts a variety of classes, meetings and social events throughout the week both during the day and in the evening.

U3A Improvers Italian Class (U3A Members Only) – 10am

Weekly in the Acorn Suite (Annexe) is the U3A Italian class.
10am till midday

U3A Aerobics Class (U3A Members Only) – 10:30am

Weekly in the Oakleaf Suite (main hall) is the U3A Aerobics class from 10:30am till 11:30am.

U3A classes are for paid members of the U3A only however the U3A welcomes new members.

U3A Beginners Italian Class (U3A Members Only) – 1pm

Yoga with Pat Kay – 1:15pm

1:15pm till 2:15pm is Yoga with Pat Kay in Oakleaf Suite (main hall) every week.
This privately-run Yoga class is for wellbeing, stretching and relaxing. No restrictions on registration but all participants must be over 18 years. Charge is £60 per 10-week course.

Keep Fit – 7pm

Keep fit – Every week 7-8pm.

Aughton Male Voice Choir Rehearsal – 7:30pm

The Aughton Male Voice Choir weekly rehearsal is from 7:30pm till 10pm.
On the 2nd Monday of the month it starts slightly latter at 8pm.
Aughton Male Voice Choir study and practice choral music and to give public performances for the choir’s own funds and charitable causes.

On the 1st Monday of the month from 1pm till 4pm is the West Lancs Disability Helpline.

Aughton Parish Council meeting (Monthly) – 7:30pm

Every 2nd Monday of the month is the Aughton Parish Council meeting from 7:30pm

Tuesday

Zumba Fitness – 11:15am

11:15am till 12:15pm every week in the Oakleaf Suite (Main Hall)
A Latin inspired fitness dance class, easy to follow routines including rhythms from Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia and Belly Dance.
New members should contact Nicky Garforth on 07916 142 992 before attending.
£3.50 pay as you go

Creative Stitchers (Committee room) – 10am

An embroidery, needlecraft and talking group, currently full

Musical Theatre Group (U3A Members Only) – 2pm

Ormskirk Bridge Club – 7:30pm

7:30pm – 10:30pm every week in the Oakleaf Suite (Main hall).
There is no age limit but members must have a basic knowledge of duplicate bridge.
£2.00 per session.

Aughton Whist Club – 7pm

7pm – 9pm every week in the Acorn Suite (Annexe).
Open to new members and no limit on ability.
£2.00 per session.

Craft Group – Craftaholics – 7pm

First and third Tuesday of each month in the Committee Room starting at 7.00 p.m.
We are a friendly social group of crafters who enjoy helping each other with our chosen craft. Crafts such as card-making, painting, needlecrafts and knitting. Numbers and types of craft are limited as we meet in a small room.
Joining fee £10, then £3 per meeting including tea/coffee and biscuits.

Wednesday

U3A Choir (U3A members only) – 10am

10am-noon on the 2nd & 4th weeks of the month.

U3A Textile Group (U3A Members Only) 10am

U3A Textile Group from 10am until noon on 2nd and 4th weeks of the month

PROBUS – Aughton Green – 11:45 am

PROBUS is open to retired business and professional men. The annual subscription is £150, which includes all lunch charges.
This group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 11.45 a.m. for lunch and fellowship. Other activities include bowling, annual dinner, walks, annual day coach trip, ladies’ social evenings, etc.
PROBUS membership is a rewarding social experience and membership is by invitation (please contact the Secretary George Slawinski on 01695 421 969

PROBUS – Aughton, Ormskirk and Maghull – 12 noon

PROBUS is open to retired businessmen, for an annual fee of £10. Held on third Wednesday of each month from 12 noon until 2pm in the Oakleaf Suite.
Lunch followed by a speaker – £12.00 per month.

U3A Tai Chi (U3A members only) – 12:30pm

12:30-3pm

U3A classes are for paid members of the U3A only however the U3A welcomes new members.

Pilates – 6pm

Pilates, every week at 6pm in The Acorn Suite (Annexe).
The sessions increase the feeling of well-being – the core muscles are strengthened from within. Pilates improves posture and can make back pain a thing of the past!
The class is suitable for all – exercises are adapted for anyone who may find certain ones more difficult.
Cost – £5 per class or £25 for six classes.
No need to book, just come along and try it!

“Western Boots” Line Dancing – 7pm

Every week between 7pm and 10pm in the Oakleaf Suite (Main Hall).

  • Beginners class is from 7pm – 8pm :– cost £2 per session
  • Improvers/intermediate from 8pm – 10pm :– cost £3.25 per session
  • New entrants are always welcome and there are regular social nights

Thursday

Slimming World

Every Thursday morning in the Acorn suite from 9:30am with Zoe Baker.

My aim is to help members of the local community lose weight and become more fit and healthy in a fun and happy environment, free from criticism or judgement and in a supportive group.



The group is open to all with no exceptions.

There is a weekly charge.

Mornings and early afternoons, most Thursday’s during term time in the Oakleaf Suite (Main Hall) with Mel Batchelor

This is a Mum and baby group, all welcome with babies from birth to 13 months.

Flower Arranging with Ann Hinde – 10am

Exercise to Music for 50 plus

9:45am till 10:45am in Oakleaf Suite (Main Hall)
An exercise to music class, focussing on improving fitness, posture, balance, mobility, co-ordination and flexibility. The class is full at the moment (September 2011) but please contact Nicky Garforth on 07916 142 992 if interested.
Cost is £12 for six week in advance or £2.75 per session pay as you go.

U3A Country Dancing Group

11am – 12:30pm

We have a couple of sessions on a weekend, but there are occasional functions and events of a Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday including Private Partys and the Social Dance.
