The nights are drawing in, although we still have the odd nice day of weather it’s heading back towards winter, but as autumn passes Spot On Lancashire have a warming programme of events to keep you entertained.
Aughton Village Hall will be hosting Ben Osborne, who returns to Aughton Village Hall for another adventure. He will present his Himalayan Journeys on the 9th November 2014:
On the edge of the Tibetan plateau, just behind the main Himalayan ranges you’ll find Ladakh and Zanskar. These ancient kingdoms are effectively cut off from the outside world in winter by heavy snowfall and temperatures down to -30C.
Our plan was to look for snow leopards and other animals which live in these remote mountains. To find them, we trekked up frozen rivers, crossed lung-busting mountain passes, travelled through uninhabited valleys, camped in caves and visited ancient monasteries (much to the surprise of the resident monks). We skied into areas that were completely cut off for 6 months in the winter and even strayed (not entirely by accident) into military zones which were out of bounds to foreigners.
The show tells the story of two journeys, with stunning images and an entertaining & compelling commentary.
The bar will be open for refreshments before and after the show, serving our full range including beer, wine and spirits, soft drinks and tea & coffee.
